With Anthony Johnson just losing all his belts yet again to Oleksandr Usyk by unanimous decision after being outfoxed and out boxed by the speedy Ukrainian over 12 rounds in Tottenham just a week before the Trilogy of fights between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder were about to fight, it looked like their bout would not be happening, and an all English Heavyweight Unification fight would not occur at all.

You can watch Anthony Joshua getting demolished here if you want. It was a real shock to UK fans and probably AJ himself to find he was on the losing side yet again and will have to hope to reclaim his title belts in a re-match yet again!
Whether AJ has the skill to train and then beat Usyk before Tyson retires I don't know, but the plan was for Tyson to have one more fight to re-unify all the belts and had it been two Englishmen boxing for that event which we haven't seen in a long time.
It would have been amazing for English Boxing especially if they had fought in the UK. Maybe at Wembley or the O2 arena, can you imagine it, a UK fight, fought at a time fit for English people not American's so that we don't have to stay up until 5am to watch a scrap in Las Vegas. The queues for tickets would have stretched for miles and miles.

Personally I want to see a re-unification fight for ALL the belts, whoever holds them, and then for all the heavyweight belts to be scrapped and just one heavyweight belt made that the winner gets. Let's join up the WBA, WBO, WBC, IBF, IBO titles and any others like the Lineal title and Ring Magazine belts. So that there is only ever one Heavyweight champion which would mean boxers had no excuse to ignore fights and keep one belt and all would be fighting to get that single no 1 spot in the world.
Having too many heavyweight belts (also any division), makes it seem watered down to me. When AJ had a set of belts but no-one would fight him, and he had trouble getting the fights he wanted, with one belt this would not happen. Tell me what you think?
The last time they met it ended in a draw. This outcome was much disputed as many people thought Fury had out-boxed Wilder despite being knocked to the canvas twice, once in the last round.
However there was no draw this time and the result was a phenomenal win by Tyson Fury who managed to knock a wild swinging Deontay to the floor numerous times before his corner through in the towel in the 7th round. This decision to save their fighter has been talked about a lot, and many fans consider it an outrage, so seemingly does Wilder, who astonishingly thought he was alright to continue.
In my eyes, if he had continued he would have ended up in the hospital or even worse, like Nigel Benn's fight with Gerald McLellan, he could have been seriously injured, maybe even permanently.
From round 3 on, it seemed Wilder was a spent man, swinging wildly with his punches and hopelessly trying to land his right hand bomb on a constantly bobbing and weaving Tyson Fury.
Fury said before the fight he was going to bully Wilder and press on him from the go. Many people, including experts didn't believe that he could but it seemed that the experience from the first fight and the changes Fury had made to negate Wilder's Knockout Right punch seemed to work. Fury had actually changed trainers from his first fight to one specialising in a US fighting style called Kronk. This is where they train with the heat up full and box to bully their opponent and it looked like those tactics worked as Fury went straight at Wilder from the start.
In the clinches he was constantly hitting Wilder, and pressing his body onto him, a heavier mass than Wilder faced before, and a tactic many Wilder fans have claimed was illegal tactics. However this is a boxing match and if you don't play the game you don't win. Boxer's know the score, they are in the ring to win and things happen, they either fight to win, taking every opportunity that comes their way or they lose.
I haven't seen a heavyweight fight where the two boxers don't clinch and punch each other in the body whilst doing so. It's a tool the boxers use and you either do it back or take the punishment until the referee pulls you apart.
Fury was deducted a point at one stage for an illegal hit, but even so he probably still won that round 9 to 8. Wilder seemed to be all over the place, slipping and falling either from Tyson's relentless punches or accidentally. Whether his ear drum were hurt from a punch or not, that may have affected his balance, Wilder just seemed to lack the basic boxing skills to handle Fury.
There was no jab, no good footwork, and Wilder just kept doing what he has done for so long. Attempting to knock out a much better boxer with one strong punch. It didn't work, and in the end his corner had enough and threw the towel in to stop the fight.
There's been a lot of controversy before and after the fight, and you can see some of the arguments below the videos. The walk on by Wilder in a (too heavy), knights suit, behind a rapper singing about black power etc has been seen by many as a way to make the fight racial but the Las Vegas crowd didn't want to play that game. Wilder was met with boos from the crowd during his entrance, whilst a relaxed Fury was carried into the ring on a thrown, as the arena played one of his favourite songs.
Wilder had made comments before the fight about Tyson's struggles with depression and drugs but Fury dismissed them all with his performance and after fight comments about them. He even sang a song in the ring to the crowd and looked very happy to have won the fight.

If this fight between two Heavyweight English Champions, goes ahead, then it should be fought in the UK either at Wembley or the O2 arena.
Why should British fans miss out on the chance to attend a local BIG heavyweight fight that would possibly be the biggest since the fights of Ali n Foreman?
Aside from the fact Saudi Arabia is a nut job country, that cuts heads off people and jails and publicly whips victims of rape, the fight to unify the belts is a good idea. There are far too many belts out there in my opinion and they should unify them all, then scrap all but one, leaving just one heavyweight champion out there for all contenders to face.
No contract disputes and people avoiding certain belt holders to go after one particular belt and not fight another fighter as we saw with AJ's attempts to find an opponent recently. WBO, WBC, IBF, IBO, etc, etc...what would the heavyweight division look like with just one belt and everyone having to fight for a place to contend for it?
It may just be a dream, however and if Fury can skip the 3rd fight with Wilder that hes contractually obliged to fight, to face AJ for his 3 belts, then it would just be as if one belt existed, for a time anyway. Whether Deontay Wilder will take a payout to miss the 3rd fight and then possibly fight AJ or Fury, for the whole lot I don't know, but it's what Fury's camp want to happen.
There is also talk of Fury retiring after winning the fight with AJ and then one defence of his unified champion status. Whether Wilder would be the person he faced if he won against AJ I don't know and it seems like a contractual nightmare could be debated and argued for some time before Fury's next opponent is settled upon.

I have been on Facebook a lot in the boxing groups since the fight and it does seem to be a lot of pissed off Wilder fans making excuses for their idols loss. That is despite Wilder's own excuse that the costume he wore on the walk out into the arena was too heavy and he was drained before the fight.
This is despite comments he made on Joe Rogan's podcast that he trained with a much heavier weight around him before a big fight, therefore I don't know how he can say the weight of a small child during the walk on prevented him from fighting. He must be a very unfit fighter if that is the case!
It seems that the list of excuses include:
Tyson cheating by clinching and pushing his heavy body onto the smaller framed Wilder
Tyson cheating by rabbit punching Wilder in the clinches
Tyson cheating by flicking Wilder with his glove
Tyson cheating by tampering with his glove, all due to the CCTV being switched off in his changing room before the fight at one time.
Tyson cheating by hitting Wilder behind the head.
Wilder being okay, and it was his corner that lost the fight for him but he was standing so could continue.....all the way to the hospital in my opinion!
Wilder taking an illegal shot to the back of his head on his ear which ruptured his ear drum causing the lack of balance and numerous falls we saw from him.

Wilder just being Wilder basically and a lot of people's hero it seems and he can do no wrong.
Some racist comments against White/English boxers.
Plus a load more too stupid to mention.

Conor McGregor Defeats Donald Cowboy Cerrone in 40 seconds at UFC 246
Like many UK MMA fans I stayed up all night to watch the main event at UFC 246 last weekend.
With the headline fight being fought around 5.30 AM UK time I didn't get to bed until 6am and with BT Sport changing their programming to charge PPV prices to customers.
I spoke to a woman at BT and asked her why they were now charging for UFC when up until now it had always been free to customers.
We are only going to charge for "Big Fights" she said over the phone. What constitutes a "Big Fight" to BT though?
The headline event at UFC was Conor McGregors comeback against Donald Cowboy Cerrone, and whilst it was a much anticipated event, it wasn't a title fight, and whilst the prelims were free to watch, the 4 fights on the main card weren't, and no belts were up to win.
So unlike many boxing events when UK TV channels only charge PPV for a title fight it seems BT might start charging for all future UFC events. If that is the case I might have to reconsider my BT Sport subscription as free UFC fights were one of the attractions for me to join BT, one of the good things about BT sport apart from their European Football and Premiership games.
I would have been pretty pissed off if I had paid considering the fight only lasted 40 seconds, and the other main fights weren't as good as some of the prelims, with the Holly Holms fight consisting of a really wound up Holly pacing the Octagon before and in-between rounds, then spending much of the fight against the fence in a clinch. Like the booing crowd I cannot be the only person who is upset at this change at BT Sports and I am pretty glad I used another free stream to show the main card to me.
Conor McGregor demolishes Donald Cowboy Cerrone
The main event whilst short was a spectacular quick destruction of the all time highest winner by head kicks, but unfortunately was over so quick, Cerrone didn't even get to throw a punch and only one kick. I was hoping the Cowboy would be able to provide a good stand up fight between two kick-boxers, a spectacle I find much more exciting to watch than a fight consisting of sparse stand up and full of BJJ. Although technical and complex finishes and locks are involved I just prefer stand up than floor fights.
The fight between Conor and Donald was so quick I think I can describe the 40 seconds from memory in-case the videos are taken down by YouTube.
Straight off in round 1 Conor ran out to meet Donald and threw a left hook that Donald ducked and they ended up in a clinch.
Conor then used a move I had never seen, neither it seems had Joe Rogan or the other commentators as he used the clinch to jump up and down repeatedly throwing his shoulder into Donald's nose, smashing it open.
They then broke apart and Donald threw a right kick to Conor's body before McGregor responded with his own left kick to the head of the Cowboy.
As Donald fell back stunned, Conor followed up with a left knee to his head that pushed Cerrone to the fence and Conor jumped on him with a flurry of punches taking him to the floor, where he jumped on top of him and hammered his head with his fists before the fight was stopped.
The doctors rushed in and had to tend to the Cowboy after the hammering to his head smashed his face in by both Conor's shoulder, kick, knee and fists.

If you just want to see the Conor v Cowboy highlights scroll to 4 minutes 29 seconds, not that you can really show just highlights from a 40
second event. The only thing missing is the violent finishing of Donald
on the ground after Conors kick to his head.
The Big News
Although Conor had just delivered a complete perfect quick win over Donald who had to have the doctors attend him for a while after the stoppage, it seemed that the big news to McGregor was not the win but his new sized bottles of Whisky.

The arrogance of the 31 year old is so complete, I cannot believe he used his interview with Joe Rogan to advertise his goods.
"That's the big news", he actually said after talking about his Whisky.
Not the fact he had won fights at 3 weight levels, or the fact he had just won a fight in 40 seconds, or defeated the all time finisher by head kicks with a head kick, but his new Whisky bottles.
I wonder what Joe thought of that, if anyone knows please comment, as I thought it was just rude and disrespectful to his opponent to say that in his interview.
Holly Holms beats Raquel Pennington at UFC 246
The other main event on the card was the women's fight between Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington. I was expecting Rachel to do much better than she did against Holly and it seemed she ran out of ideas very quickly.
The original video was taken down and it seems there are loads of animated videos with cartoon like fighters in the ring replicating the moves on YouTube. Very odd to watch but I guess it's a way of getting round showing the real fight and being removed, however this video is the full fight with real people.

Post Fight Interview With Holly Holms and Joe Rogan
There was little stand up action and lots of clinches against the fence during the fight,
which didn't really excite me or the crowd. I even heard boos at one point, and this was the co-headline event, another reason I am angry at BT Sports for charging PPV for non title belt fights.
Holly actually apologised in her post fight interview with Joe Rogan
about the lack of stand up combat afterwards and said she was disappointed that she couldn't

I am so glad I didn't waste the £25.99 Sky Box Office were charging to watch the rematch of AJ and Andy Ruiz Jr in the desert on Saturday night. There are so many free streaming services and apps out there that you can just put on your phone and mirror to your TV you don't need to until the FBI shuts them down.
The only saving grace to the 12 rounds of AJ circle Andy Ruiz Jr with jabs all night was that it was before 12pm and I didn't have to pay to suffer to watch it.
The fight basically consisted of 12 rounds of a very in shape and seemingly giant Anthony Joshua circle a flat footed and very overweight Andy Ruiz Jr, who had obviously been training at McDonald's since the last fight, with jabs all night.
It was (as some called it), a display of artful boxing. I suppose it was in that AJ knew if he got too close to Ruiz one punch to his glass chin could put him down like the 4 times he hit the canvas in Madison Gardens. So to ensure Ruiz couldn't get close enough to him, he used his longer reach and his jab. Plus the fact Ruiz couldn't get close due to his unfitness we didn't even get to see one flurry of a tear up.
No close contact jabs going back and forth and upper cuts, ducks, weaves and bobs. It was literally AJ circling Ruiz all night with jabs to his face.
He won on points of course and got his belts back. Then Ruiz came over and interrupted his interview to invite himself to another match up. I don't think I would even bother to find a free way to watch that fight.
What I want to see is one heavyweight belt for everyone to fight for. AJ may have "unified" 4 belts but Detony Wilder and Tyson Fury are ignoring the opportunity to take them off him and Wilder seems happy with his WBC belt.
Why won't Wilder fight AJ?
He obviously has a chin ripe for the "bomb squad" as Wilder likes to boom down a mic after knocking someone out who looked like beating him all night. So why doesn't Wilder and AJ meet for a proper unification of the belts and then we can see if AJ has the boxing skills to take on someone with equal fitness and strength in the ring.
Let's just hope it's not in Saudi Arabia if you have any morals.
It's a boxing blog so I shouldn't really go there but if no-one mentions it then we all live in ignorance.
Well we have been letting the country cut peoples heads and other limbs off after Friday prayers for decades now. We've got to have that black gold and of course our Arms Industry is a "national interest" according to Tony Blair when BAE bribed some princes to sell weapons to our "ally".
Lets forget about all that, they are just a country in the process of modernising from the 7th century. However to listen to Antony Joshua praise Saudi Arabia multiple times after the fight made my stomach turn just a bit.
So who cares what this backward country tries to do to improve their image as long as we get to see Muslim boxers like Amir Khan and AJ choose to fight in the desert before midnight for once so we don't all waste our time and money.
Forget the beheadings and public lashing of rape victims. We get to see some boring boxing now Saudi Arabia has entered the game.

The first meeting of Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr happened at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, U.S on June 1, 2019.
Other "better" fighters such as Detony Wilder, Tyson Fury and Jarrell Miller who was disqualified due to failing 3 drug tests all passed up the chance to grab AJ's collection of Heavyweight belts.
He held a unified list of heavyweight belts, the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO. Why wouldn't a fighter like Detony Wilder who only holds a seemingly lesser ranked WBC belt want the chance to take them all of AJ?
I have no idea and there are lots of conspiracy talks in the boxing forums on social media but AJ did not expect to lose to Andy Ruiz by TKO in the seventh round,ending Anthony Joshua's undefeated record and becoming the new unified heavyweight champion.
People have even compared it to fights such as Mike Tyson v Buster Douglas in 1990 and Lennox Lewis v Hasim Rahman in 2001.
The only other belt out there that really matters is the WBC held by the super puncher, Detony Wilder, who drew with Tyson Fury after knocking him down twice, and a recent win over Luis Ortiz, 10 years his elder, and although looking unfit seemed to be inside Wilders head with his two step jab technique. Until blam, Wilder got a clean straight right hand bomb on Luis that ended the fight straight away.
Why are there all these belts I think this video might help but personally I think there should only be one belt, one heavyweight champion of the world and not 5+ belts out there with the possibility of 5+ people calling themselves heavyweight champions.
Now what will happen in the rematch which for the 1st time is being held earlier in the day with the big fight around 9pm and shown on Sky Box Office, with probably a pass on BT to watch as well. Although there are tons of online streaming services and apps that will allow you to watch the fight for free if you can find them.
If AJ is capable of handling bombs on his chin better than before then he stands a good chance but if during his loss Ruiz floored AJ 4 times and I can see no reason why he can't be capable of doing it again tomorrow night.

Did Amir Khan Quit During The Terence Crawford Fight
Amir Khan talks here about the constant low blows he received from Terence Crawford during the fight he had to quit during a low blow punch to the groin.

Some people said after this fight that the respect shown between fighters and to the Dojo meant that UFC could become one of the most respected martial arts.
People say that MMA is a Mixed Martial Art as it takes parts of Kick Boxing, BJJ, Wrestling, and other martial arts, and fighters have to use all of them. However as it's becoming more and more usual for a UFC fighter to have to know both key components of MMA (Stand Up Fighting - the best parts of Kick Boxing/Muay Thai/Taekwondo) and (Floor Fighting - the best parts of BJJ, Wrestling, Jujitsu) to succeed in the octagon, then one day it will become a martial art on its own.
Just watch at the end the respect shown between Israel Adesanya and Anderson Silva, as they both kneel and pray on the cage floor, and hug each other for ages. I sure would love to know what Anderson was saying to Izzy for about 3 minutes in his ear after the fight. I wonder if Izzy will ever let us know?
I love this fight because Spiderman, Anderson Silva was my favourite MMA fighter before Israel Adesanya came along. Israel is undefeated at the Middleweight so far and faces his toughest fight yet tonight at UFC 248 against Yoel Romero for the middleweight belt. That fight is yet to happen as I write this but will be posted on the site for sure whatever the outcome.
Will Israel Adesanya become the next UFC's Spiderman or will someone else take that special title.
It just goes to show you don't have to be a ripped triangle chicken chest on steroids to fight. Skinny black dudes can do just as well, and Israel has all the right attributes being skinny, so there is less of a target to hit, and having long spindly arms and legs, which gives him reach advantage, and means anyone wanting to get close to him for a takedown attempt is likely to be spotted and struck before being able to.
Izzy is very good at spotting and defending against takedowns, and if you don't get him on the floor in the centre of the Octagon. You will just waste your time against the cage as he can spread his long legs so wide that the attacker has a big problem trying to trip him up and get him to the floor.
For me, the best moment of watching a Spiderman fight, was when he was trying to put his opponent off by moving his hands about in front of him, not blocking but just trying to make the other fighter not know his next move.
It always seemed like brilliant skill, when kicks or punches came his way but he just avoided them by inches as if they were nothing, putting the attacker off, that was until he got too cocky against Chris Weidman, and got sparked right out. Lesson learned.
However unless Izzy reigns for a long time, Anderson Silva will certainly go down in history as maybe the best Middleweight UFC fighter ever.

The big fight at the weekend was between Tyson Fury and Otto Wallin. Hoping to retain his title and hopefully get another chance to fight Detonay Wilder, Tyson managed to win on points despite suffering a nasty gash during the fight.
Again I was hoping for a British boxer to get a KO against his opponent but I am happy making money all year by betting on a Points or Decision finish in these fights.
For this fight it was 3/1 for Tyson to win on points.

Shock outcome at Madison Garden as Anthony Joshua loses to stand in fighter Andy Ruiz
It was meant to be an easy fight for AJ, a fight to show the Americans including Detonay Wilder and Tyson Fury what he could do in the ring. That was until the 3rd round knock out.
It was a round that Joshua had Ruiz on the canvas himself but then afterwards he was rocked by a punch that put himself on the floor.
He took a count and then carried on before another knock down and AJ's chin and legs were wobbling from that point on.
How many fights is that now that I have stayed up all night to watch only to be disapointed by no true KO. The other week Amir Khan let himself down by giving up after a low blow and now we have Anthony Joshua losing his 4 belts to someone who probably never expected to ever have one of them round his waist in his life time.
I want to see UK fighters show some true grit, I want to see Nigel Benn back in the ring, I want to see Lennox Lewis fighting Tyson, I want to see Joe Calzaghe go over to Vegas and stay undefeated not get floored and lose in his last events like Ricky Hatton. Come on UK we can do better!

Anthony Joshua Opponents are all Ducking Fights and Big Pay Days
Anthony Joshua is fighting Andy Ruiz, an almost unknown, on Saturday in New York at Madison Square Garden putting his titles, the WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO heavyweight champion belt on the line to fight what is a bit of a disappointing opponent
There were loads of offers made to other fighters of millions, more than they had ever made to fight Joshua but for one or another reason they all turned him down. He was supposed to be fighting Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller on the card but he failed multiple drug tests that brought Miller's chance to an end.
Tyson Fury and Detony Wilder who put Fury on his ass twice, don't even seem concerned about unifying the belts and fighting AJ, even for their biggest pay day. I can only think it is due to their knowing that they will lose and probably by a KO.
Better to stay out of his way as long as possible their idea seems.
Therefore we have a British Champion with 4 belts ready to put them on the line yet no other top contender in the division will fight him. No money is enough it seems.
I always hate the fact that no matter how good our boxers are and how many title belts they have and willing to put on the line they must always cross the Atlantic to fight in either Las Vegas or New York to prove themselves to the US public who from FB chats I've seen are all Detonay Wilder fans and think hes the dogs bollox, yet their hero won't cross the Atlantic for what should be an explosive unifying belt fight OR they complain about the money their offered to fight despite not having as many belts as AJ. Excuses, excuses.
It annoys me for 3 reasons.
I have to stay up til 5am sometimes for the title fight and the last time I did that I was so disappointed to see Amir Khan throw in the towel after not waiting his full 5 minutes due to a low blow from his opponent Terence Crawford.
It's not worth the PPV money to watch all those preliminary fights and then see the main attraction become a low blowout. This is why I use the tips and apps you can get here on free Pay Per View Boxing. Watch the Football between Liverpool and Spurs first and then switch over to watch the boxing which won't get to the main event til about 4-5am.
Why is all brilliant British Boxers have to go to the US to prove themselves by winning a fight. No top US boxer comes to the O2 or Wembley to fight Anthony Joshua do they. No every top boxer from Nigel Benn to Joe Calzaghe and Ricky hit man Hatton have had to traipse across the Atlantic to prove their worth, no matter how many belts they have in front of a US crowd.
So if you are willing stay up and hopefully watch a KO before the 4th round then you can pay or you can pay the man at the free Pay Per View Boxing page to set up your TV and Phone to watch for free. I am not wasting any money if there is a chance of a cheating low blow fighter making the opponent throw in the towel.

The Fight Between Amir Khan versus Terence Crawford
The fight between Amir Khan and Terence Crawford was a bit of a letdown as it ended with Khan throwing in the towel after a very heavy low blow to Khans lower regions.
Some people are saying he took the easy option to get out of the fight as he knew he was going to lose to Crawford who was outboxing him easily in New York'sMadison Square Gardens arena.
Others would disagree as it was a bit of a low way to win a fight with an illegal punch. Khan could have taken the 5 minutes allowed before deciding to carry on or not but he immediately indicated to his team that he couldn't and Crawford won by default.
I bet the fans who paid to watch the fight in New York or on Pay Per View felt pretty let down to see the headline fight end with such an ending.

Crawford has a perfect 34-fight record and has seen him capture 3 world titles in different weight classes, including holding all four belts to become an undisputed champion at super-lightweight in 2017.
Khan's last world-title shot saw him knocked out by Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in 2016. The former super-lightweight champion had stepped up to middleweight to face the classy Mexican but questions over the durability of his chin arrived quickly nonetheless.

UFC 235 was last weekend and it was a great night for MMA fans, women who were celebrating International Women's Day can be proud that I turned over for the undercard and saw two women, Marion Reneau and Yana Kunitskaya kicking, punching, and beating the hell out of each other.... or maybe was that supposed to be ironic?
Anyway, the 2nd top fight of the night for me personally was the heavyweight slugfest between Blagoy Ivanov and Ben Rothwell which really was a fight to the death, and to be honest either man could have won that fight as it was fought with balls of steel and no-one wanted to taste defeat.

The main fight was between Derick Lewis v Don Santos and it was a major upset as the in shape Don Santos seemed to pick apart the less fit Derrick Lewis and he hit him with some heavy gut shots that obviously took the wind out of his sails and put him on the back foot.
It was only a matter of time before Don Santos got his TKO when he moved in with a punch, stunned Lewis, and then started hammer fisting him before the referee stepped in.

However, the best fight on that night I thought was between Jon Jones and Anthony Smith.
Jones kept his belt and his record as one of the best fighters about and during the match he used all his weaponry from head kicks, spinning back kicks, elbows, grappling and even an axe kick was thrown at one point.
He really was no match for his opponent Anthony Lionheart Smith who could not fight in the way his corner team kept instructing him to.
He was constantly trying to move away, never attacking, and only survived to a points decision by absorbing Jones's attacks somehow and not submitting or being knocked out.
For me, it was the fight of the night, and the post-fight interview showed how much respect Jones had for Smith when he congratulated him for taking so many hard blows from head to toe.

Who was your best fight between and why did you stay up all night to watch it?
The big fight on Saturday was between Chris Eubank JNR and the 2 times IBF champion, and UK Gold medalist at the Beijing Olympics, James DeGale,
The fight was quite good but as expected it didn't quite live up to what I wanted, which was to finally see a top UK fight end in a KO finish and not go the full 12 rounds to be decided on points.
Chris Eubank JNR was by far the better boxer and rightly deserved to win by unanimous decision and rocked DeGale to the core a good few times.
However, I thought that Eubank should have been able to show more of a killer instinct and put DeGale down for the count, rather than the two mandatory 8 counts he got from flooring him and the comical bear grip, wrestling style, slam dunk to the floor, that cost him a point in the later rounds.
There was far too much cuddling, and headbutting, which caused cuts on both boxers and DeGale seemed to be running away from Eubank a lot of the time.
DeGale was still stunned to jelly legs a few times by some solid punches from Chris, and there didn't seem to be any danger of Chris losing the fight. I just really hoped to see Eubank take advantage of DeGales obvious wobbly state when struck well, and finish him off. However, it was not to be,.
So once again I am hoping for a KO finish to a fight, and even winning a Eubank points decision to bet at 3/1 was no compensation for missing out on a good finish.

This is the full official fight highlights of last night's fight between Manny Pacquiao and Adrien Broner.
Manny Pacquiao managed a unanimous points victory over Adrien Broner on Saturday night.
Starting as the overwhelming favourite, Pacquiao used his jab to good effect as Broner struggled to land a punch on his opponent and Manny Pacquiao came close to finishing the fight in the seventh and ninth rounds when rocking his opponent with strong combinations.
However, Broner survived to hear the final bell before stupidly deciding to celebrate.
His mood rapidly changed when the scores were announced with the judges giving Pacquiao a unanimous decision of 117-111 and 116-112 twice.
After the fight, Pacquiao called Floyd Mayweather who was sitting ringside out of retirement for a potential fight.

Will we finally get to see an explosive knockout finish to one of the first top UK fights of 2019 between James DeGale and Chris Eubank Jnr?
The end of last year was pretty disappointing as we didn't get any KO finishes to our top fights.
I was hoping to see a KO finish between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilderbut it didn't happen and if it had it looked like it would have been the Gypsy King getting knocked out in the US.
Again there was no explosive finish between Frampton and Warringtonin their recent clash, again it was decided on points.
So this time I am hoping Chris Eubank Jnr can finally supply us with a KO finish to this fight and we don't have to wait 12 rounds for another points decision.

Here is a recent interview with Eubank Jnr taken after the main conference where he discusses fighting DeGale and his reply to comments that the loser should have to retire and not carry on boxing if they lose.
He also discusses the recent loss by Groves and also comments on the recent Tyson Fury draw in America.
He clearly thinks he can beat DeGale and reckons he will take him out in "Spectacular Fashion".

So Eubank Jnr thinks he will destroy DeGale but James DeGale's trainer Jim McDonnell thinks Chris Eubank is a "pretty basic fighter" and that DeGale has the upper edge in this upcoming fight.

This is a video of the full fight between Carl Frampton and Josh Warrington, just in case you missed it at the weekend.
It was a great fight with Josh Warrington coming out on top.
They were brave fighters, with no trash talk beforehand, showing each other lots of respect and putting boxing back where it belongs.
Without the hype, the face offs, the stupid press conferences and so on as we have seen in so many previous boxing matches where the hype was just too much.

Josh Warrington defended his IBF featherweight title with a well-earned win over Carl Frampton in Manchester, England.

Josh Warrington (28-0, 6 KOs) entered Saturday’s IBF featherweight title defense as the betting underdog against former world champion Carl Frampton (26-2, 15 KOs), but Warrington capped off a brilliant 2018 with a thrilling performance and well-deserved unanimous decision victory over “The Jackal.”
The native of Leeds, England used a relentless pace, high-volume attacks, and blinding speed to largely overwhelm the Northern Irish star throughout the thrilling contest.
While Warrington isn’t much of a power puncher, he seemingly had Frampton stunned on multiple occasions, but Warrington was more than willing to exchange bombs with him.
Warrington got off to a phenomenal start with his early aggression in the first couple of rounds, but towards the midway point and into the second-half of the contest, Frampton fought back through effective counter-punching, vicious body shots, and an ability to win those close quarters exchanges that he’d lost earlier in the contest. However, those adjustments were too little, too late, as Warrington had more in the gas tank, and he had the more consistent offensive success down the stretch to pull away on the scorecards. 7

Having won the title from Lee Selby in May, this win over Frampton validates Warrington as an elite featherweight and someone to watch more intently in 2019, particularly if he lands a unification bout vs. WBO champion Oscar Valdez.
As for Frampton, his three-fight winning streak comes to a halt, and he was simply outgunned by the better fighter.

Are we getting too used to being ripped off at by our ISP's and TV content providers?
I think so when the fighters are making tens of millions at the very least we could have expected a decision on the fight and not a draw. That's not what I paid my money for including a bet on Tyson Fury winning on points which I obviously lost.
However this is the new world of "sports entertainment" and I am just happy the UFC is still free for the moment on BT as we have seen some great clashes lately in MMA action.
For those of you who missed the fight, Fury was winning on points but he got knocked to the floor twice. Wilder must have a hard punch to say the least. However it was the last knock down in the final round that probably kept the belt with Wilder, and it was a UK judge who made the split decision.
The Gypsy King even had the cheek to put his hands behind his back on numerous occasions offering his face to the hardest hitting man in boxing at the moment.
