The Fight Between Amir Khan versus Terence Crawford
The fight between Amir Khan and Terence Crawford was a bit of a letdown as it ended with Khan throwing in the towel after a very heavy low blow to Khans lower regions.
Some people are saying he took the easy option to get out of the fight as he knew he was going to lose to Crawford who was outboxing him easily in New York's Madison Square Gardens arena.
Others would disagree as it was a bit of a low way to win a fight with an illegal punch. Khan could have taken the 5 minutes allowed before deciding to carry on or not but he immediately indicated to his team that he couldn't and Crawford won by default.
I bet the fans who paid to watch the fight in New York or on Pay Per View felt pretty let down to see the headline fight end with such an ending.

Did Amir Khan throw in the towel due to real pain which is perfectly possible, or should he have waited the 5 minutes allowed before deciding?
Surely Crawford would have had a point deducted for that whack to Khans lower region and Khan could have carried on and at least fought to the end.

I think he should have waited the full 5 minutes before deciding. The way he immediatley gave a signal that he couldn't continue seems to indicate he wanted a quick end and not to be sparked out. However if he had waited 5 minutes and then decided he still couldn't fight that impression wouldn't have been given. ReplyDeleteKhan was getting ripped apart every round and he went down in the first round and Crawford P4P just beat him up, khan corner new this and the low blow ended khan, if u look after that low blow khan nodded to his corner that was there excuse to pull out, khan would of had time out 5 minutes but he threw towl in, Crawford destroyed him.
