UFC 235: Jon Jones and Anthony Smith Octagon
UFC 235 was last weekend and it was a great night for MMA fans, women who were celebrating International Women's Day can be proud that I turned over for the undercard and saw two women, Marion Reneau and Yana Kunitskaya kicking, punching, and beating the hell out of each other.... or maybe was that supposed to be ironic?
Anyway, the 2nd top fight of the night for me personally was the heavyweight slugfest between Blagoy Ivanov and Ben Rothwell which really was a fight to the death, and to be honest either man could have won that fight as it was fought with balls of steel and no-one wanted to taste defeat.
You can see this fight below, I won't spoil the result if you don't already know it but you may be shocked!

Please excuse the Russian commentary but YouTube is YouCensor nowadays so you get what you can!
It was only a matter of time before Don Santos got his TKO when he moved in with a punch, stunned Lewis, and then started hammer fisting him before the referee stepped in.
You can watch the fight highlights between Derick Lewis v Don Santos below.

However, the best fight on that night I thought was between Jon Jones and Anthony Smith.
Jones kept his belt and his record as one of the best fighters about and during the match he used all his weaponry from head kicks, spinning back kicks, elbows, grappling and even an axe kick was thrown at one point.
He really was no match for his opponent Anthony Lionheart Smith who could not fight in the way his corner team kept instructing him to.
He was constantly trying to move away, never attacking, and only survived to a points decision by absorbing Jones's attacks somehow and not submitting or being knocked out.
For me, it was the fight of the night, and the post-fight interview showed how much respect Jones had for Smith when he congratulated him for taking so many hard blows from head to toe.

Tell me what you thought of UFC 235?
Who was your best fight between and why did you stay up all night to watch it?
Personally for me the best fight was the womens fight you can go on about International Womens day and make sarcatic comments but they fought like men and acted like men, isn't that what womens equality is all about>
ReplyDeleteYes, I was being sarcastic as I don't think womens equality should be measured on how much they copy men but instead on how much they can change the world to a better place and not follow behind mens stupid footsteps. Do you think if women had ruled the world and men had been 2nd class citizens for most of history UFC would even exist. Would we have had 2 World Wars and all the rest. Or would the planet be a more egalitarian plant with shared resources, less world hunger, no wars for oil and equal opportunity for all. Or would it be exactly like it is now except women would be the mean, overlords for most of time and it would have been men throwing themselves in front of horses as a protest to gain the vote and work?
