UFC 243 - Israel Adesanya beats the champ to become Middleweight Champion

Israel Adesanya becomes Middleweight Champion Down Under at UFC 243

This was a fight I was going to get out of my bed at 4.30am on my birthday and watch Israel KO Robert Whittaker.

Not only did I have money on it I knew he would win ever since I saw Israel beat probably one of the best UFC fighters in UFC history, The Spiderman, Anderson Silva. From that point on I knew he was going to become probably the next best middleweight fighter in UFC history.

Click here for a recap of that great fight that made Israel's career, in both mindset, spirit, and soul in case you missed it.

But I all know what you are coming here for, the big event down under UFC 243, where the current champion, Robert Whittaker, that mad fighter in the ring with punches that KO you, back kicks that will send you to the other side of the Octagon, and back heel kicks that if connect shake your brain like Rhinaas hips.

Israel Adesanya v Robert Whittaker - Full Fight

So a great fight with Israel just staying out of Robert Whittaker's range.

The Champion threw body kicks, head kicks, twisting flying kicks
, and all sorts of punches but Israel just always managed to stay clear from, and when the two clashed, Whittaker would inflict one punch but Israel would come back out returning two clear punches.

That's what probably did it for Israel Adesanya as those double return punches inflated his number of significant strikes compared to Robert Whittakers, a lot who looked good at the start but missed their target.

Flying punches, flamboyant kicks but always missing their target, and Israel always keeping out of range. That was one thing I was impressed about Adesanya how he controlled the distance yet always seemed to be in the centre of the Octagon. He nearly finished him at the end of round one but the bell saved Robert's skin.

Tell me what did you think of the Israel v Whittiker fight, did you watch it, were you a fool and pay to watch it or did you just enjoy a great fight. Let me know in the comments below and if there is a rematch would you bet on Robert Whittaker regaining his title?

Actually now they have had a re-match you can watch that fight right here on the site > Israel Adesanya v Robert Whittaker - The Re-Match.

Let me know in the comments section anything you liked about the fight....

  1. I think after Israel beat Anderson Silva it could have a lot been down to age difference, Spiderman is over 40 now, but the way they honoured each other as fighters and martial artists by praying on the mat at the end was good.

  2. There is no way in the world Whittaker is going to regain his title and that Brazillian fool at the top of the rankings will get a whoop down by Israel if he fights him.

  4. I love Spiderman if Israel can become even better will he become Spiderman2 or Spiderman into the MMAverse. There surely can only be one Spiderman so if Israel becomes better does that mean Silva is deranked?

  5. LOL There will only be one Spiderman, Silva may have screwed up once or twice but he is the main UFC spiderman for me. Those jello leg and hand waves to put you off for some mad kick or even up against the fence both standing he wasted no time. He was stamping on the opponents foot to take away his leg power and dead footed easier to prey on from the trees the Silva back Spider..

  6. Thank you so much for putting this blog up for all of us who cannot stay awake or pay to watch the fights to see them. You have a good collection of both Boxing and UFC on here going all the way back to Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks. Used to be sat down as a kid in front of World of Sports to watch the good old days of wrestling.
