In the main event, Holly Holm takes on Germaine de Randamie to determine the UFC’s first women’s featherweight champion. But the co-feature is a talker, too.
Former longtime middleweight champion and pound-for-pound king Anderson Silva (33-8 MMA, 16-4 UFC) returns to take on Derek Brunson (16-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in the co-main event.
Silva will be looking for his first official win in more than four years.
After a non-title TKO win over Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153, he lost his middleweight belt to Chris Weidman, then badly broke his leg in their rematch.
When he returned 13 months later, he beat Nick Diaz at UFC 183 – but failed drug tests associated with the fight and was suspended for a year.
After that, he lost a close decision to Michael Bisping before Bisping won the 185-pound title, then took a non-title fight on just a couple days’ notice against light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier at UFC 200, which he lost by decision.
Maybe I should have split this into two articles but I couldn't help putting the UFC 208 fight between Spiderman Anderson Silva and Derek Brunson from UFC 208 into this article.

As the nice people at YouTube like taking down videos that are allowed to be embedded in other sites when you click the share button, I have to keep finding other videos to show you. Sometimes it comes down to just the highlights or the fight from a channel in Estonia with commentary you cannot understand. Then after 2 years, you can embed the full fight without any hassle again.I really don't know why they make videos embeddable e.g show the HTML code to play them elsewhere if they don't want the video, to be shown on other sites. Why not just take the "embed" option off the Share pop-up?

So who do you think will win and will you stay up just to be disappointed like I was with Rhonda Rousey when I stupidly chose to stay up all night to watch the main event for her only to be stopped 48 seconds into her comeback Friday night fight to the Brazillian Lionness, Amanda Nunes in UFC 207.
At least she won me £40 from her amazing on-target punching and Rousey had no chance to get within range to get her to the ground for her favourite finish, an armbar.
Well at least I won some money and I guess Rousey will go off and make some more films like The Expendables 3 with all the old crew, Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lungren, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, and many more aging stars of the 80's.

I think Spiderman will be coming back with a vengance this time. Jut watch out for those kick blocks with the knees.

ReplyDeleteCheers for adding in the final fights to this article, I love Spiderman and Anderson Silva will probably be my fav UFC fighter of all time. At 41+ still fighting 20 year olds and smashing them up with backward wheel kicks and flying knees, and when he jiggles around you have no idea what move he is going to let fly on his opponent. Great fight.
